DEPORTATION & DETENTION DEFENSE
AN URGENT NEED
The risk of deportation is a constant and terrifying threat to all undocumented immigrants in the United States, particularly those with final orders of removal. It is estimated that over a million immigrants are in the United States with final orders of removal and are now at risk of imminent deportation, despite valid claims to remain in the country.
Prior to the current administration, many with final orders had been able to remain in the country, often with the express or tacit approval of the federal government. But the Trump administration, in its zeal to deport any and all immigrants as quickly as possible, has cancelled programs that allowed these people to remain in their communities. As a result, hundreds of thousands of immigrants are now at a heightened risk of detention and deportation without notice, warning, or an opportunity to present their claims.
